The Father is concerned with what is in our hearts. Are we as concerned as He is?
Proverbs 23:15-16 (NIV)
My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad;
my inmost being will rejoice
when your lips speak what is right.
To know on what our LORD placed a high value, let’s look at Matthew 15:17-20,
“Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.’”
Jesus is much more concerned with what comes out of our mouths than we realize. Our words reveal our hearts. Let’s take time today—many times today—to have Him cleanse us of unclean thoughts. Let’s take time this morning to wash our minds with the water of the Word. Let’s allow Him to transform our minds and to give us righteous thoughts. HE WILL!
Abba, May we take as seriously as You our thoughts and words. I know that our deeds will follow. Amen.
