Proverbs 26 11-26-20

Happy Thanksgiving! We give thanks that our God wants us to know Him; He has provided the perfect means…His Spirit!

A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools.

We have the perfect scenario: God’s Presence, Provision, Participation, Protection, and Promise. Can we not see the great blessing we have received through Christ and His finished work on the cross? Why, then, do we “kick so hard against the goads”? (Acts 26:14)? If Christ is, indeed, Lord of our lives, then we have trusted Him for salvation. Let’s go the rest of the way and trust Him with our every step, every decision, even every breath.

The phrase, “Seeing is believing,” is only partially true. It should read, “seeing correctly is believing.” Jesus said,

Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.” Luke 11:34-36

What do we have in our eyes? I used to think that we had colored glasses on, but now I realize that we actually have a film, like a cataract, growing over our eyes. Only Jesus can heal us.

In many ways, we are still blind. Spiritually, we can only see what the LORD illuminates. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, Psalm 119:105, is a classic example of the fact that we cannot see beyond where His light shines. It all comes down to trust. Do we trust Him? I promise you, the more you know about Him, the more you will trust Him. He is faithful; He is love; He has our future in mind all the time.

Today, let’s give thanks for the wonderful gift of salvation and the marvelous gift of His Presence/Spirit.

Abba, heal our eyes so that we can see You clearly. I know that as we do, we will believe You, trust You, and obey You. Thank You for so great a salvation and for leading us all the way to Your throne. Amen.
