You’ve Been Hurt

You’ve Been hurt.

I acknowledge that. Hurt people hurt people.
That’s what families are made of: Hurt people. They have been damaged by sin, by others, and many times led astray by the devil. They still have idols in their lives (things that they count on for security, success, and fulfillment). They can be conceited, proud, prejudiced, acidic and judgmental. If we focus on our families, our families will let us down—hard!
The same is true with friends, teachers, bosses, lovers, and even spouses. Our focus is to be on one Person alone, and that is Jesus Christ. HE is the only One who will not let us down. Christ calls us to look to Him. He has chosen to work with and through these imperfect people in our lives. He loves them. He even calls them His friends!
Here’s the irony:
You’ve been hurt.
I acknowledge that. Hurt people hurt people.
That’s what churches are made of: Hurt people. They have been damaged by sin, by others, and many times led astray by the devil. They still have idols in their lives (things that they count on for security, success, and fulfillment). They can be conceited, proud, prejudiced, acidic and judgmental. If we focus on the church, the church will let us down—hard!
But, Christ calls us to look to Him. He has chosen to work with and through these imperfect people. He loves them. He even calls them His friends!

Every Christ-follower is a part of His Church.
He calls us His Bride. He married us!!!

From the outside, church can be not very attractive, but from the inside, we have a fellowship that goes beyond anything we can have in this world! We are brothers and sisters in Christ. We are FAMILY.
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!  1 John 3:1
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Ephesians 5:1
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. Ephesians 4:2-3
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. Hebrews 10:24
I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people [His children, His family] who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians 1:18
