Proverbs 28 10-28-19

Being known for integrity is not nearly as popular as being known for actions and deeds, but it IS what counts.

4 Those who forsake instruction [God’s Word and His instructions to us] praise the wicked, but those who heed it resist them.

5 Evildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.

Our Hero needs to be Jesus Christ. All others, whether sports players, actors, race car drivers, political figures, etc. all need to take a back seat to the One around whom all creation is centered.

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15-17

36 from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Romans 11:36

When we get away from reading and obeying God’s Word, we take our eyes off of the Lord Jesus Christ and place them on what is around us. Without His perspective, the things of this world sparkle and shine and look enticing. If we are not careful to get back to His Word and His way, we will find ourselves praising the wicked.

When we seek the Lord, we gain His perspective of how this world works, and what is the end awaiting those who follow the prince of this world–whether they realize that is what they are doing or not! We know what is right and we do it in His name and with His power, His presence, and His participation. It’s HOW we walk with God, through the Spirit, because of the Son. Because they are ONE, we are actually walking with Jesus!

Let’s make SURE that our feet are on the Rock (of Jesus) and our names are on the roll (of the saved through the blood of Jesus). Now, THAT’S the right kind of rock and roll!

Lord Jesus, May YOU be the center of all I think and do today. I not only want to do it for You, I want to do it WITH You. I remember Dad’s words when I asked him why he and Mom moved up here with me. He said, “I was tired of not seeing you.” I don’t want to grow tired of not seeing You! Neither do I want You to grow tired of not having my full attention. May I walk closely by Your side today as You draw me into Your embrace. Let’s go, Lord. Amen.
