8 “All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge.”
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete. Luke 7:46-49
Robin and I watched the movie, “The Impossible,” about a family of five who survived the Thailand Tsunami in 2004. WOW! Anything not nailed down–and a lot that was–was carried off by the tide as it came in. What surprised me was the reverse tide as the waters rushed back to the sea. The water carried much more “trash” as it came back. Incredible story! It’s on PureFlix. This movie was a perfect illustration of the importance of having a good foundation.
