With whom do you align yourself? Be very sure you are on the Right side. It’s a matter of eternity.
11 Evildoers foster rebellion against God; a messenger of death will be sent against him.
Judas chose the wrong side. So did the Jewish leaders. So did Pilate and Herod (see John 18-19).
Each one was led to a place where he had to decide who he was going to follow. That fork in the road comes for all of us and reveals where our allegiance lies. It’s a matter of character built upon a lot of little everyday choices. Every choice we make builds our character either toward godliness or toward selfishness. One is a foundation of gold and is laid on the Solid Rock; the other is built on sand with sticks.
The apostle Paul explained it like this:
11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
For some, it’s a salvation issue. For others, it’s a relational issue. Only the Father knows– and the individual. Either way, here is the litmus test:
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7:24-27
May we be diligent to “hear His words” in our hearts and to DO them. In doing so, we pledge our allegiance to the z.
