Proverbs 11 4-11-19

We say we serve Christ, so who decides what we do today? Our feelings or His Spirit?

3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

Duplicity: deceitfulness in speech or conduct, as by speaking or acting in two different ways to different people concerning the same matter; double-dealing.

Jesus knows our heart, and He knows when we are not being truthful to Him. Why do we try to fool Him?

Kids are funny. When they are doing something they know they shouldn’t be doing, they hide– then it’s quiet, which makes us go look for them!

We are God’s children and He comes “looking” for us, even as He did with Adam in the garden of Eden. With us, if we ever were to grasp that He is ALWAYS with us, we would give up thinking that we can hide from God.

Why would we even want to? Look at what He has for us:

You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. John 15:14-15

His friendship should be all- important to us. He paid a very high price in order to restore our opportunity to be His friends. It’s what Easter is all about!

I know a lot of emphasis has been put on obedience, so let’s clarify a few things:

1. When He came to us and invited us to follow Him, we abandoned all other pursuits and followed Him. Its like a marriage of FAITH- Forsaking All, I Trust Him.

2. He came and made His home inside us and did a complete renovation- He gave us life, picked us up and placed our feet on the Solid Rock, He cleaned us up and gave us the robe, sandals, and ring of sonship, signed adoption papers and took up residence PERMANENTLY.

We call this transformation our POSITION in Christ.

From now on, everything is a family matter. It’s relational.

The question is: In light of all He has done for us, don’t we want to live for Him? His way is life; our way leads to relational separation and puts us back into bondage.

Let’s adopt this pledge:

HE DIED FOR ME

I’LL LIVE FOR HIM
