Proverbs 20 3-20-19

God designed us to think. He has things He wants us to learn. Are we willing to give Him a chance?

5 The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.

Ever wonder why things happen the way they do? Is there some cosmic design behind even the bad things that happen? Let’s delve into God’s Word and see what clues He gives us to the answers to these questions.

And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Genesis 2:16-17

According to what God said, death [and chaos] came from sin [rebellion]. Things haven’t changed much through the millennia. We still rebel and chaos comes. If not us, then it’s all the other people in the world. It stinks having to live with the consequences of other people’s bad choices.

God allows nature to take its course [the consequences from Great Flood have a lot to do with our weather–okay, they have EVERYTHING to do with our weather!]. Each of us WILL die. So, what is our goal in life? What is HIS goal for us in life?

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Romans 28-29

According to Paul (who spent time with Jesus in heaven-see 2 Cor. 12:1-10), God uses the natural circumstances in our lives to conform us to the image of His Son. WOW! Does He cause them? NO. Does He USE them? Absolutely. Not only that, but He equips us ahead of time for these circumstances with everything good for doing His will so that He is pleased. Whaaaaat?! Read it for yourself:

May the God of peace…21 equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Christ Jesus, to Whom be glory forever and ever, Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21

Tomorrow, we will discover HOW He equips us. Stay tuned…

Today, let’s step back and realize that WITH HIM, we have everything we need to be like Him in any circumstance. Our natural response sees the future without Him in it; our supernatural [Spirit-led] response sees the future with Him right beside us, even in us! Let’s work through our natural response as quickly as possible and get to the Spirit response. THAT’S the way to be filled with His love, joy, peace, hope, grace, faith and truth.
