Proverbs 9 3-9-19

The choice is ours to follow or to not follow Christ. Daily. Decision by decision. Will you follow Him today?

12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.”

God has been working His plan from the beginning.

  • Christ died for us before the world began: a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, Titus 1:2, …to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. Rev 13:8
  • The plan was revealed to Abraham that through him the whole world would be blessed. This promissory covenant was with one man. On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram (later changed to Abraham)… Ge 15:18
  • God made another covenant with Abraham’s people, the Israelites, that was set up on a sacrificial system. It pointed to the One Great Sacrifice that would be made by Jesus Himself. Moses then wrote down everything the LORD had said. He got up early the next morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars representing the twelve tribes of Israel.
… 7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.” Ex. 24:4,7
  • Finally, God made a New Covenant with the world through Jesus. In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.” Lk. 22:20

We now live under the New Covenant of grace given by our LORD Jesus Christ. We are saved through His blood, the atoning sacrifice, and kept in His love–personally, by Jesus Himself!

If we read verses 1-12 again, we see them in light of the new covenant, something even Solomon couldn’t see. Let’s be wise and choose to follow Him today in every decision we make.

Thank You, Jesus, for thinking of me before time began, for dying in my place, and for coming to live in my heart. I will follow You forever!
