We serve Jesus. Whatever He wants is what we do. We don’t worry: He is the standard of trustworthiness. Serve Him well.
19 So that your trust may be in the LORD … 29 Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.
In a factory, every person has a job, but no one person is irreplaceable. The owner/CEO moves people around and brings in new people to replace others. In the Body of Christ, He moves people around and brings in new believers even as older believers move on to be with Him.
There are also seasons in our lives according to our age, fitness, availability, maturity, and experience. We must trust that He has His Plan and is working that Plan.
16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Ps 139:16 [How He knows and yet allows us to have free will is beyond me!]
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Je 29:11 [this verse, originally pronounced for Israel, has been adopted by Christians because it speaks God’s heart and is mirrored in Jesus (see Matt. 11:28-30)]
In a conversation between Jesus and Peter after the resurrection, Jesus gave Peter a hint about how he would die. Peter asked about John, who was with them, and Jesus replied,
“If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” Jn 21:22
THATS OUR JOB! Following Christ is about which all we are to be concerned. We don’t have to worry about finishing what we are doing or about other folks. Our lives don’t even need to be productive. Following Him is all about our relationship with Jesus. We leave the rest to Him. So, let’s work on that relationship and walk with Him closely.
