Our obedience to the Spirit trumps all logic, circumstances, and desires. We MUST TRUST Him. To not trust Him shows our unbelief.
2 All a person’s ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart. Pr 21:2
The next verse shows the Lord’s desire of our obedience over our service:
3 To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. Pr 21:3
Doing what we are directed to do is what is “right and just.” If we go back one chapter, we find the reality about just how much we know about our circumstances, the future, and what God really wants us to do:
24 A person’s steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way? Pr 20:24
In other words, we know NOTHING about our circumstances, future, and what God wants us to do until He tells us.
So, what do we do in each circumstance in which we find ourselves on our face before God asking what to do?
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart [don’t hold anything back] and lean not on your own understanding. [this is the hardest part]; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him [acquiesce to Him, allow Him to take the lead], and he will make your paths straight [direct your paths; the path is not necessarily straight, but our next step is such that we are facing the direction we should go, so the next step is straight in front of us]. Pr 3:5-6
If we are going to walk through difficult situations, let’s get the most out of them. Let’s learn ALL we can and walk as close as we can to our LORD. Remember, it’s all about the relationship.
