When tragedy strikes, we fall back on what we know to be true. God Is In Control.
24 A man’s steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way? Pr 20:24
There’s a difference between directing and forced marching. God doesn’t make us take His paths. We choose to follow Him. He has great plans for us (Jer. 29:11)–not necessarily on this side of heaven. Jesus said as much:
2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. Jn 14:2-3
When we are overwhelmed, we go with what we know. I go to my favorite psalm for comfort and to remind me once again that God’s got this.
23 Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. 24 You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.
These four things are my truth, my reality, my faith.
- I am always with Him,
- He holds my hand as the Father of a young child!
- He guides me with His counsel through the Holy Spirit,
- And promises to take me to where He is when my journey through this life is over. WOW!!!
25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
27 Those who are far from you will perish [because they do not trust You]; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you [eventually, everyone is given what they have so often chosen, either God or their own way].
28 But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds. Ps 73:23-28
Remember the Weigl family to the LORD today in the loss of their littlest one. God is Good. All the time.
