Jesus Christ died to pay for our sins so that we could be reunited with the heavenly Father, who loves us dearly-the Gospel.
16 “Whoever is naive, let him turn in here,” And to him who lacks understanding she says,17 “Stolen water is sweet;
And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” 18 But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of Sheol [hell]. Pr 9:16-18
We Christians don’t get it, yet. People who don’t know Jesus personally are perishing, both now and when they die. We must be about the work of our Lord:
10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Lk 19:10
Jesus said these words from Zacchaeus’s house. Here is what He said after the meeting with the Samaritan woman at the well:
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work. 35 “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. 36 “Already he who reaps [Himself] is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 “For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 “I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.” Jn 4:34-38
The “meat and potatoes” of our discipleship with Christ is working with Him to connect with the next prospective disciple (lost person)–all the while maintaining our walk with Him and discipling others as we go.
I am asking God for souls this year. I disciple folks and lead our church in worship, but I am asking for someone who doesn’t know the LORD to cross my path–or lead me to him. So, I will strike up a friendship with my new neighbors and try to establish relations with my old neighbors in the hope that, if they do not know Him, they will come to Christ, and if they do, we will enjoy fellowship together in Him.
Please pray for my success. Join me in this endeavor.
