Proverbs 1 1-1-19

Let’s let the Lord orchestrate our lives this year. Allow Him to show us what and how to change. Becoming like Him is our goal.

New Year’s Resolutions. Who needs them? WE DO! Of course, it’s easier to make them daily rather than annually. Before modern technology, ships used to adjust their course each night by the stars. By making minute corrections, they saved themselves having to make major course corrections later.

What resolutions can we make that will make 2019 fruitful?

  • Our intention should to become more like Christ–at any cost!
  • Let’s be intentional about our godliness by inspecting every area of our lives regularly as the Spirit highlights which area for the day.
  • Make the Word of God the most important book we read and the most extensive tool we use in our speech, actions, motives, and our thoughts.

Why? Because it is useful:

2 for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight;

3 for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair;

4 for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young—

5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—

6 for understanding [these] proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. Pr 1:2-6

God saved us to have fellowship with us. How do I know this?

“If you will repent [correct your course] at my rebuke [teaching, correction, training-2 Tim. 3:16], then I will pour out my heart to you and make my thoughts known to you.” Pr. 1:23

But, wait! He already has!

5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Ro 5:5

Let’s take advantage of so great a salvation by getting to know the One who saved us. We will spend the rest of the year delving into what He has saved us from…
