The Proverbs Club is designed to remind you to read today’s chapter and to encourage you with a word from me. I pray it does so.
Proverbs 12:3 A man [person] cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.
The key to Proverbs is our intention. What is it we intend to learn? To do? To refrain from doing? Why? For whom? The answers to these questions bear out whether we are wicked or righteous.
The most dangerous weapon on earth is choice. Yet, God knew that to create us in His image and for us to be able to fellowship on the same level as He, we would need to be able to choose. Choose what? EVERY choice we make has the potential for good or evil. In every decision, we have His Spirit saying to us, “Will you obey me or won’t you?”
His asking is HOW we fellowship with Him, how we grow in Him–or how we quench Him and grieve Him. It’s not a matter of salvation; it’s a matter of fellowship.
Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Here’s the deal: We must trust Him to lead us in everything–even especially in reading and interpreting His Word. He uses the Bible to speak to us, but beware of using it in a way that is contrary to God’s nature. People twist Scripture, they manipulate with it, they use it as a club, all to get power, influence and control–none of which are righteously attained nor sanctioned by God. Church people can be the cruelest and most ungodly people on the planet! History proves my point: The Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the witch-hunts of Salem, etc.
Establishing and maintaining our relationship with God through The Holy Spirit–Who is actually Jesus inside us–is vital. It is the VERY REASON we became Christians! We have forgiveness of sins so that our relationship with God could be established, hence, the cross. We have hope in eternal life WITH HIM (more fellowship) because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave.
It all about the relationship. Let’s keep it that way.
