Proverbs 28 11-28-18

Our stories matter. How we live our lives is being watched by others. Let’s give the Holy Spirit plenty to work with!

Proverbs 28:5 Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.

[9] If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable.

These two verses blended together give us the “secret” to victorious Christian living. We need to understand justice fully, and we need to listen to the Law-Giver. Notice that it says “turns a deaf ear.” Now, look at this verse:

Revelation 2:17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

When we read God’s Word, when we hear it preached, when we discuss it in class, when we see it lived (and the Spirit points it out to us) in other people’s lives, we are hearing our Lord Jesus Christ speak to us His law, the Law of Love.

How do we understand justice fully? By understanding Jesus’s heart for people.

Ephesians 3:17-19 so that Christ may dwell [abide, rule] in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God [and His love].

1 John 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

The words of the Bible are just “tinkling brass” and a “resounding cymbal” if the Spirit doesn’t speak to us through them and we don’t heed what He says. Mankind has misused the Scriptures throughout history! Let’s blend Scripture with His leadership today. We MUST remember that we may be the only Jesus some people will ever see and we may be the only Bible they’ll ever read.
