Training the mind to not wander is a lot like herding cats. Yet, train it we must: it guides our heart. Jesus wants to help!
Proverbs 7:24 Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say.
Satan knows that glittering and shiny things capture our attention. He knows, for guys, that anything sexual gets our attention. Hence, the advertising industry, which appeals to our base desires and appetites of vanity, pride, greed, lust, fear, acceptance, etc. We are capable of anything–it’s no wonder Christ came to die for us: we deserve death!
Praise the LORD! Praise His holy name! He came and paid the price for our sin and took away our shame! He has taken us into His arms and cleaned us up, dressed us, placed the ring of sonship on our finger (guys and gals), signed adoption papers, and has taken up residence in–and possession of–our hearts.
We serve Him best by giving Him our full attention and obedience. Let’s listen today and pay attention to Him as He guides us and instructs us in the path we should go. Pleasing Him should be our highest priority.
Hebrews 13:20-21 May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.
