There is so much in this world that is good, if only we follow the right Leader. Jesus wants to lead us; let’s follow Him!
Proverbs 5:11-12 At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent. You will say, “How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned correction!
This world is so dangerous, fraught with evil spirits and godless people, that Jesus comes to live with us–in us!–in order to lead us through the mine fields and battlegrounds of this life to eternal life with Him. Let’s get something straight: We will NOT get through this life unscathed. Even though Christ lives in us, we still have to live with the consequences of other people’s bad choices. Most are unregenerated (not Holy-Spirit led), and many others live in disobedience to the One inside them. We must simply trust Him:
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Lest we think that this verse is magic in some way and that everything will work out the way we want (kind of like a Hallmark movie), let us remember that,
Philippians 3:20-21 …our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
This world will not be right until Jesus returns. In the meantime, He has given us His Spirit to guide us and to keep us company along the path to His house. Let’s get to know Him. How, you ask? By reading His Word, and then putting into practice what we read. Let’s start easy.
Titus-a small book of only three chapters. It took me 2.5 minutes to read chapter 1, 2 minutes to read chapter 2 (verses 11-14 are favs), and a minute-40 secs to read chapter 3. That’s a little over six minutes to read the entire letter. Surely you have SIX MINUTES in your schedule! Let’s read Titus once a day for a week and see what the LORD says to us. Ready? Set; GO!
