Proverbs 23 10-23-18

If God we’re to ask you to give up a certain thing in your life for Him, would you tell Him, “no?” Then He is not truly LORD.

The mocker:

Proverbs 23:9 Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words.

Instead, what should we do?

Proverbs 23:12 Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.

[23] Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.

Solomon then hits two areas in life that are in opposition to godly living (see yesterday’s lesson):

1. Adulterous relationships (whether before or during marriage)- verses 26-28,

2. Party drinking (alcohol)- verses 29-35.

All the reasons in the world make no difference if Christ is calling us to “put away childish things (1 Cor. 13:11)” in order to gain a closer walk with Him.

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliott

Let’s seek after truth, wisdom, instruction and insight by reading His Word and listening to what the Spirit wants to say to us. Yes, it’s THAT important!

Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell/show you great and unsearchable/mighty things you do not know.’

Revelation 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is says [is saying] to the churches.

1 Corinthians 2:10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

[13] This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

[16c] But we have the mind of Christ.
