A seed has all the codes to become what it was created to be. We do, too. All we need to do is be planted…
Proverbs 24:3-4 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
This is one of my favorite Proverbs because it so aptly describes the process of the Christian life.
WISDOM-learning to know who God is first-hand, what He is capable of (that’s the “fear of the LORD” part: Proverbs 1:8, 9:10), and how much He loves me.
UNDERSTANDING-coming to realize that His way is so much greater than what my finite mind can comprehend, like the difference between a kazoo and an orchestra–only infinitely greater!
KNOWLEDGE-experiencing life in the protection of the Spirit. Notice I didn’t say “safety;” we ARE safe spiritually, but how we die is up to Him. I just want my life AND DEATH to count for Him! Notice, also, that I didn’t say “learning;” stored-up knowledge is good, but only when what we know is put to the test do we really KNOW something. How do we know Jesus loves us? Because we have tested that love over and over again, haven’t we?! He truly IS the God of New Beginnings.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
God wants to grow us up in Himself. Let’s focus on Him today and learn all He has for us as we experience life together with Him.
