Proverbs 28 7-28-18

Understanding justice, heeding instruction, fearing God, and walking in wisdom: all come from applying His Word.

Four verses stood out to me this morning:

[5] Evil men do not understand what is right [justice], but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.

Understanding justice requires being able to see beyond our own needs and desires. Only Christians have the ability to see from God’s true perspective. One may argue that a judge could possibly make judgments using God’s principals and he would be correct–to a point; but knowing what is the RIGHT call for that person at that time is something that only God knows and only shares with those who truly know Him.

[7] He who keeps the law is a discerning son [and heeds instruction], but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.

Keeping God’s Word at the forefront of our thoughts helps us to interpret our actions and the motivation behind them. The Spirit speaks and we hear and obey. If we don’t, we “turn a deaf ear” to Him and we no longer “hear” him. People talk about their prayers seeming to stop at the ceiling. I think that they have at some point quit obeying the Spirit and His voice got drowned out by other voices. They need to tune in (like with an old-fashioned radio) through His Word. HE SPEAKS THROUGH HIS WORD!!!

[14] Blessed is the man who always fears [and trembles before] the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

We need a big God, One who is big enough to handle our problems. He is worth fearing! And, can you imagine the awesomeness of standing in His presence? How about knowing that the Eternal, Awesome God of the Universe lives in us?!!!! Let’s not do anything that would compromise knowing Him completely.

[26] He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

We trusted God for salvation; shouldn’t we trust Him with our lives?I am reminded of His plan for us:

Psalms 73:24 You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.

Today, let’s walk in the wisdom of His Word, listening to His Spirit, and heeding His guidance all the while respecting His greatness and standing in awe of His Awesomeness!
