Why make the effort to live a godly life? His Spirit calls us to it. Without that call, there is no point.
Proverbs 6:23 For these [His] commands are a lamp, this [His] teaching is a light, and the [His] corrections of discipline are the way to life,
We cannot forget that “the Word of God is alive (Heb. 4:12),” and that His words are His will. When we read something in the Bible, IT IS HIM TALKING TO US. He highlights verses, passages, or even specific words; He calls to remembrance past sermons, memories, and things we have read (often from the Bible, as well); He brings to mind certain people for whom we are to pray, minister, and/or fellowship.
Don’t quit. You ARE becoming more like Jesus everyday–it’s just that we have trouble seeing it. We learn more from our failures than we do our successes. In fact, success after many failures is quite sweet! The Holy Spirit rejoices with us. We have ALREADY been qualified “to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of Light (Col. 1:3).” We are already worthy, pleasing to Him, bearing His attributes, growing in Him, and enjoying His company (from Col. 1:9-13).
Let’s be grateful today of all He has done for us, is doing with/through us, and will do for us in the future.
