Does our walk match our talk? If we say we love Jesus, we need to trust Him. If we trust Him, we will live as He directs.
Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
We don’t usually consider ourselves smarter than God, but we do act like we are. Jesus told a parable that describes us:
Matthew 25:14-15 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent [more than $1000], each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.
“Then the man who had received the one talent came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
When we don’t trust God, we cannot serve him. It’s like burying our “talents” in the ground. Jesus said,
Matthew 6:31-33 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
If we trust the LORD, we will not be afraid to lose our worldly possessions, even our own lives. We will be zealous to live our lives in such a way that others take notice and want what we have: the Spirit of the living God inside us!
The Apostle Paul put it like this:
Galatians 5:13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
So, let’s not worry about the fight inside concerning right and wrong. The very fact that there IS a fight is evidence of the Spirit of God in you 😃. Have faith and choose right. Then, look for the blessing of God as He says, “Well done, my good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:21). His favor is reward enough!
