Living in the awareness of God’s presence is something we need to practice. It’s not natural–it’s supernatural!
Proverbs 21:27 The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable—how much more so when brought with evil intent!
The people of the Old Testament did not have the Presence of God in their hearts. We DO!
Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Their hope was in the coming Savior and the promise of His indwelling.
Ezekiel 11:19 I will give them an undivided heartand put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.
God has always been interested in our intentions and our motives. It’s the very reason He gave us Choice: He hopes we will choose Him. Most don’t, but we have! We have been circumcised in heart.
Jeremiah 9:25-26 “The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will punish all who are circumcised only in the flesh— Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab and all who live in the desert in distant places. For all these nations are really uncircumcised, and even the whole house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart.”
Romans 2:28-29 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.
Are the Jews who don’t believe no longer Jews? Not so! They are just living under the penalty of God’s wrath. Hopefully, soon, that will change!
Zechariah 12:10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him [in repentance] as one grieves for a firstborn son.
As we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, let us pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon them. As for us, let us pay close attention to His guidance and leadership that comes from within us. In fact, relish it, for we are blessed to have Him in our hearts!
