Making decisions based on what we see isn’t a great idea; illusionists are artists at fooling people, and so is the devil!
Proverbs 8:14-17 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power. By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just; by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth. I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
Christ IS Wisdom. We seek Him!
1 Corinthians 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
If we want to know the behind-the-scenes information about someone, it is best to ask the Spirit to give us knowledge and discernment concerning the person and/or the situation. He knows what God desires.
1 Corinthians 2:11-14 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
We are completely dependent upon the Spirit for “inside” knowledge about people, circumstances, coming events–everything!
NOW we see why it is important to spend time WITH HIM in His Word everyday (we wouldn’t have had today’s lesson without His Word!). I believe God chose to use a written Gospel rather than just Him speaking to hearts because we hear Him through the filters of our circumstances, our culture, our history, and our chemistry (how we are feeling physically). Writing it down takes away a lot of “interpretation.” We no longer have to take someone else’s word on what God said. We can READ IT FOR OURSELVES!
Let’s do just that today and ask Him to reveal Himself through His Word.
