When people look at us, do they see Christ? Just how clear is He to them through us?
Proverbs 27:9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one’s friend springs from his earnest counsel.
What is our earnest counsel to our friends?
Christ has come through His Spirit to live in our hearts. Let’s look at some verses:
2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
2 Corinthians 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Did you catch that? We are reflectors of His glory–of Him! How well we reflect Him is dependent on how clear our mirrors (our lives) are. Now we are beginning to understand the significance to a godly life, one that is different than the world: We are to draw attention to Him. He may ask us to refrain from something not because it’s wrong, but so that we will be different from the world. Our job (and, hopefully, our goal) is to exalt Christ!
John 3:30 (John the Baptist) “He must become greater; I must become less.”
Let’s be about making Christ huge in our lives. Let’s do all we can to point to Him–even if we are called peculiar!
Psalms 115:1 Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory!
