Proverbs 23 4-23-18

It’s easy to tell what is important to people: just look at what they spend the most time doing.

Proverbs 23:1 When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you,

[4] Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint.

[6] Do not eat the food of a stingy, begrudging man, do not crave his delicacies;

[9] Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words.

Here are four kinds of people listed here:

1. The ruler (power),

2. The rich (wealth),

3. The begrudging host (greedy, rapacious-I looked this one up: -inordinately greedy; predatory; extortionate, given to seizing for plunder or the satisfaction of greed).

4. The fool (He who knows what is right, but chooses wrong anyway). I tend to think of a fool as a lover of pleasure (2 Timothy 3:4…lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God).

Is Christ the Lord of your life (actually, He is LORD of EVERYTHING-people just live in rebellion)? All will know by what you deem important. Saving us from our sin was a big deal; why go back to it? Don’t we realize what it cost our Savior, our God? We will spend the rest of our lives-even all eternity-learning the depths of His love for us as displayed on the cross!

Here’s the bottom line:

We are made BLAMELESS.

We learn to be HOLY.

We are declared NOT GUILTY.

We learn to walk in INNOCENCE.

Let’s get on with it, shall we?!
