Proverbs 21 4-21-18

So, you’ve decided to follow Jesus…that was “yesterday.” What about today? Will you answer His call again?

Proverbs 21:21 He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.

Just so we all know, we’re not talking salvation. It’s a one-time event: Christ comes to us asking for our lives, which we give to Him. He then MOVES IN! We’re talking permanent residency. So, our POSITION in Christ is firm; it’s the daily stuff with which we need help.

NOTE: I started to put just the references, but the Scriptures speak much louder than my words, so here they are!

We’ve been given a new heart,

Ezekiel 11:19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

Jeremiah 31:33 “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Hebrews 10:16)

and His Spirit:

Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Romans 5:5) along with new desires:

Romans 8:5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

Psalms 27:8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.

We now hunger and thirst after righteousness:

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

and are promised that He will fill us:

Ephesians 3:19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

We spend everyday, nearly every waking moment, wresting with Who will have control in our lives. It’s part of our training:

Hebrews 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Today’s proverb is a promise from God to give us eternallife, spiritual prosperity and honor from the One who matters.

Let’s work hard for Jesus WITH Jesus today. Pursue righteousness and share love, His love, with all you meet. Don’t ask yourself if YOU want to; ask Him if He wants you to!

Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will [His desire] and to act [His power] according to his good purpose.
