Proverbs 26:6 Like cutting off one’s feet or drinking violence is the sending of a message by the hand of a fool.
Jesus took a great risk In entrusting us with the Gospel (Matt. 28:19-20). We should consider it a high honor that He did.
What would you say if you had less than one minute to speak to the nation? Or to all the people you know? Or to a group of enemies? I think I would say this:
“I have a message for you from God. He loves you! In fact, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place for our sins so that we might be saved and be reunited with the Father through Jesus. If you disagree, fine, but if what I have said piques your interest, then find out more about what Christ has done for you. He is calling you. Come, follow Jesus Christ.”
A fool holds out final judgment for himself about what God is leading him to do. HE makes the final decision about what he will and won’t do. It’s another example of Selective Service and shows that the person has not entrusted his entire life to Christ. There may even be a salvation issue, there is definitely a Lordship issue.
The problem is that if we are not being good representatives of Christ, then we become “useless feet” and “virtual poison” to someone who doesn’t know Christ; we might even lead a young Christian astray! Jesus said,
Matthew 12:30 “He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.”
Let’s take our walk with Christ seriously today and stay IN STEP with Him and quit trying to make it the other way around!
