Proverbs 23:20-21 Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat,
for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.
What kind of poor? There is financial poverty–partying can be expensive! I think that the more important poverty is godliness. We ALL are spiritually poor; we have no spiritual awareness apart from the Holy Spirit. Jesus said,
Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit [those who realize that they are spiritually bankrupt], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
As we go through today, let’s be aware of His Spirit so that we can be in constant contact with our LORD.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
