Proverbs 21:3 To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
The Amplified Version gives the best explanation of this verse in Psalm 40:6,
Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.
Psalm 40:6-8 are considered Messianic verses; they speak of Jesus prophetically. Verse 6 certainly speaks to Jesus’ life.
Verse 7 is obvious, “Here I am, I have come–it is written about me in the scroll [Old Testament Bible].”
Verse 8 is key because Jesus demonstrated what life is like with God’s law written on a person’s heart, “I desire to do your will, my God; your law is written on my heart.”
Now, back to our Proverbs verse. The Lord is not looking for a gift from you; He is looking for YOU. It’s all about relationship. If we walk with Him, we will become like Him.
Let’s walk with Jesus today imitating Him as we go.
