Proverbs 14  7-14-16

Over the years, the lot next to my house has seen troublesome times. Between large, mean dogs, drugs, and “domestic squabbles,” it’s been quite an experience. The house was finally torn down an turned into a parking lot. Through it all, I tried to have a relationship with each tenant and help when and where I could. Why?

Proverbs 14:21 He who despises his neighbor sins,
but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.

Over the years, I got to lead one to Christ, encourage another (she married a preacher!), and stay in contact with another (he’s part of our Proverbs club). Our current “neighbor” (a storage facility) has “blessed” us with an eight-foot metal fence which we have used as a backdrop for several plant features.

It is not easy to keep the lines of communication open with difficult neighbors, but it is important. Sometimes we must build trust before we get an opportunity to share the Gospel. We must keep it about Him rather than our comfort or “ideal surroundings.”

“Do I have a witness?”
