Today begins the typical Proverbs readings: If/then. Jesus gave us a big one in John 14:15 and 23-24:
“If you love me, [then] you will obey what I command.
Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
So, when we read Proverbs 10:4, “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth,” we can easily apply it to our spiritual lives as we consider going to church today, sitting down and reading from His Word, aligning our will with His, and being obedient to all that He has revealed to us so far.
Easy peasy, right?! (Crying out to God for His help and direction sounds pretty good right now…!)
