John 12:27-28 “Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.
[28] Father, glorify your name!”
Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.”
Wow! That right there should have won everyone present over! God again, moved to speaking audibly, verified His relationship with His Son. Everyone there should have been on their faces. Instead, they questioned the process,
[34] The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”
The crowd still didn’t believe nor would they. The crowd looks for things contrary to the Spirit; He calls us one by one. Mass salvations are rare (Acts 2:41) and are made up of searchers, people primed at the pump. Nearly all crowds contain too many unbelievers and rabble rousers (Matt. 27:20-26).
Jesus tried one more time to instruct them and then He hid Himself from the crowd (36). Tomorrow we will look at HOW the Spirit calls.
