Proverbs 30  6-30-16

Things that cannot be changed:

Proverbs 30:15b-16 There are three things that are never satisfied,
four that never say, ‘Enough!’:
[16] the grave, the barren womb, land, which is never satisfied with water,
and fire, which never says, ‘Enough!’

Add to this list:

1. A man’s sex drive. [17:24] A discerning man keeps wisdom in view, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.

2. A woman’s self-esteem. It seems that all women (generally speaking) have bought the lie that they are not pretty enough, smart enough, in-shape enough, etc. Take a look at the advertising industry!

1 Peter 3:3-4 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.

[4] Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

Guys, we must work hard-with the Holy Spirit’s power-to limit our eyes to:

1. Our wives if we are married,

2. The Word of God and Jesus Himself! “Fix your eyes on Jesus…” Heb. 12:2a

Also, we must consider women in a different light than the world does, for the world says one thing, but practices another. Instead,

1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

In a sense, we are all weak vessels prone to be lead astray by our own lustful desires (James 1:14). So, pray for each other that we might be made strong in the Spirit. Every day. Several times a day!
