John 1:1 The Word Became Flesh

There are no two verses to memorize that are better than these:

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

[14] The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

They tell the story of the Advent. Add to them the description of Jesus at His Second Coming and you have a complete picture:

Revelation 19:13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.

Of course, the key to the passage in John is verse 12, “Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” And it’s still true today!

This passage is the beginning of the manifestation of the Trinity, the revelation of God the Son. We have always known God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, but now we have the introduction of God the Son by way of Mary.

Tomorrow, as we look at John 6:25-70, we will look at His message.

Praise Him today that He CAME!
