Matthew 26 Gethsemane

Jesus took all of His disciples with Him to the garden, but Peter, James and John were taken a little further in. Their first clue was His announcement that one if them would betray Him (21); the second clue was when He told them that He would not drink of the cup again until they all would drink it anew in His kingdom (v. 29). The third clue was verse 38, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.” What were they thinking?!

Even when Jesus found them sleeping, He reprimanded them with a question and then taught them, [40] “Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter.
[41] “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

I used to think that the spirit was my want-to, but my flesh was stronger. It may be so, but I have come to see it as His Spirit within me is willing, but I am weak. I control my own flesh; I must allow Him to give me both the desire and the power to do it (Phil. 2:13)

Had They stood and walked around, they could have kept awake. Sometimes getting comfortable is NOT a good idea. Remember that!
